According to the German Federal Ministry of Health, cancer is the second leading cause of death with more than 230,000 deaths per year*. This makes it all the more important to continue researching the causes, progression and treatments of cancer in order to be able to help more and more patients in the future.

At the three-day "Frankfurt Cancer Conference 2024" from 28 to 30 August, scientists involved in translational cancer research will have the opportunity to find out about the latest research and exchange ideas. Organised by the LOEWE Centre Frankfurt Cancer Institute (FCI) and the German Consortium for Translational Cancer Research (DKTK), this year's event will focus on "Targeting the tumor-host interface". The comprehensive programme consists of eight interdisciplinary lecture sessions and two poster sessions. Numerous renowned experts from all over the world have already confirmed their participation as speakers. The spectrum of topics ranges from the tumour microenvironment and tumour metabolism to targeted therapies and molecular drug research. Immune, stromal and vascular cells as well as the microbiome act at the interface between tumour and organism and influence the development of cancer and the course of the disease. Current research findings on molecular mechanisms and signalling pathways as well as the therapeutic significance of tumours are presented across different tumour entities.

This year, the Frankfurt Cancer Conference will be held entirely in person at Goethe University Frankfurt. Cancer researchers and students of medicine, biology and biochemistry are invited to submit abstracts of their projects for a poster presentation by 20 March 2024.
