LOEWE Research Cluster iNAPO/CompuGene Engineering molecular sensors

The "Center for Synthetic Biology" at the Technical University of Darmstadt emerged from the LOEWE research clusters "iNAPO - ion-conducting nanopores" and "CompuGene - computer-aided methods for generating complex genetic circuits". The overarching goal of synthetic biology is the development of systematic approaches to equip cells with new properties and functions. The focus is on the engineering approach. The possible applications are extremely diverse and include e.g. novel methods for the therapy and diagnosis of diseases or the sustainable production of industrially relevant substances from renewable raw materials in order to reduce our dependence on fossil fuels.

LOEWE iNAPO and COMPUGENE riddle:

What does the term "chassis" mean in synthetic biology?
