LOEWE Research Cluster Safer Materials Recycling of plastics
New materials often offer significant advantages over conventional materials, for example by being lighter, harder, more flexible or more sustainable. However, it is sometimes unclear how damage tolerant they are and how they will behave in the event of failure, which can pose significant security risks in the event of unforeseen events. The LOEWE research cluster "Safer Materials - Safer and more reliable materials" wants to create methods and technical know-how to make materials safe and reliable even when they are within their performance limits and under various external influences.
