Large turnout at the opening of the Laboratory for Teaching Development, Simulation Games and Exchange (LUPE) on June 11 2026 at TU Darmstadt – ProLOEWE simulation game part of the exhibition
Yesterday, June 11, 2026, the new "Laboratory for Teaching Development, Simulation Games, and Exchange" – known as LUPE – was opened on Alexanderstraße at TU Darmstadt.
The large number of guests in attendance were welcomed by the project initiators – Project Lead Professor Dr. Katja Adl-Amini and Project Coordinator Dr. Maria Theresa Meßner – who had developed the spatial concept for the facility in collaboration with their partners. Following the welcome address by Katja Adl-Amini, warm remarks were offered by Prof. Dr. Heribert Warzecha (Vice President for Studies and Teaching), Dr. Sophie Kirschner (Managing Director of the Center for Teacher Education/ZfL), and Tobias Besecke (student representative).
Afterward, the group moved into the new laboratory to view the exhibition planned for the day, which included the ProLOEWE scientific simulation game. This provided an excellent opportunity for the creators of the ProLOEWE AI simulation game – developed in collaboration with the "Science Birds" in Frankfurt and the former LOEWE Research Cluster "White Box" – to engage in conversation with other experts in the field of simulation games.
LUPE aims to create a central hub for anyone wishing to actively shape and research schools and classroom instruction. Those involved view the facility as a dynamic meeting point for students, researchers, and teachers; the goal is to foster professionalization in the context of diversity through close exchange between academia and educational practice.
