Minister of State Timon Gremmels presents certificates to LOEWE projects in the funding stages from 2023 onwards – Contribution to the Excellence Strategy highlighted

"LOEWE is making an impact," confirms State Minister Timon Gremmels delighted on June 18th at the ceremonial presentation of certificates for the LOEWE research projects, which have been funded since 2023. "[...] LOEWE is an indicator of where new research priorities are emerging in Hesse. This is in line with the fact that Hesse's universities achieved outstanding success in the federal and state Excellence Strategy last month. Funding from the LOEWE program has made a significant contribution to this. A total of six LOEWE centers, eleven LOEWE research clusters, and ten LOEWE professorships partake in the successful clusters of excellence – including numerous scientists who are receiving the LOEWE certificates today [...]," said the Minister of Science and Research, Arts and Cultur in his welcoming address to the scientists present.
Prof. Stefan Treue, chair of the LOEWE Program Advisory Board, who was invited to the ceremony and as a panel guest, added: "As a scientific advisory body, one of our tasks is to continuously develop the objectives of LOEWE and the specific funding formats together with policymakers. The fact that LOEWE grantees were able to make such a significant contribution to Hesse's success in the Excellence Strategy demonstrates the potential unleashed by this program. The LOEWE committees are repeatedly faced with the challenge of selecting from a multitude of outstanding research projects. It is therefore a particular pleasure for me to congratulate those who were able to prevail in the competition and who now work daily to transform promising ideas into widely visible beacons of science."
With the state initiative for the development of scientific and economic excellence (Landes-Offensive zur Entwicklung Wissenschaftlich-ökonomischer Exzellenz, in short: LOEWE), the state has been supporting outstanding scientific collaborative projects between universities and research institutions in Hesse since 2008.
