From research to practice - solutions, aids and relief in the event of a disaster: LOEWE-emergenCITY develops demonstrators and presents them in short films
Resilience and disaster research at the LOEWE center emergenCITY not only leads to theoretical results. Above all, the interdisciplinary collaboration between different disciplines also generates ideas that translate research into application-oriented projects. With numerous demonstrators - prototypical research objects and environments - LOEWE-emergenCITY shows very concretely: “This is what solutions, aids and improvements could look like in the event of a disaster”. emergenCITY has now published a playlist on YouTube for seven of the demonstrators - produced by Kassel photographer and filmmaker Sascha Mannel. The range of demonstrators that the emergenCITY researchers have developed in intensive collaboration with a wide variety of disciplines is broad: a resilient neighborhood app that can maintain communication in a neighborhood even if conventional telecommunications networks fail, or rescue robot Scout, which takes over the exploration of dangerous areas and the search for injured people so that people can be protected or, in the worst case, rescued, to name just two examples. There are short introductory videos for the seven selected demonstrators on the emergenCITY YouTube channel, where the functions and application ideas of the various prototypes are clearly explained and captured in action with their researchers.
