Research, exchange and new impulses at the annual meeting of the LOEWE Center DYNAMIC 2026 from February 18th to 20th in Gersfeld in the Rhön region

From February 18th to 20th, colleagues from the LOEWE Center DYNAMIC met for their annual retreat in Gersfeld in the Rhön region. Against a wintry backdrop, over 80 participants from the consortium and invited guests came together to exchange information on the latest developments in the research project and to further strengthen their collaboration.
The diverse program offered a mix of expert presentations, discussions, and insights into the current state and further development of key research approaches and studies. In addition to the presentation of current research findings, the focus was particularly on interdisciplinary dialogue, which opened up new perspectives on the study of mental disorders. Several members of the center participated with their own expert presentations and lively discussions on their research areas.
A particular highlight was the keynote address by Prof. Eiko Fried from Leiden University, who traveled from the Netherlands to the Rhön region. In the review paper he presented, mental illnesses are redefined as "clusters of homeostatic properties." Prof. Fried's theses provided important impetus and stimulated lively discussion.
This was followed by an overview of the center's research to date, a presentation on the use of data science and machine learning methods to improve psychometrics by David Goretzko, who has been a professor of methods for psychotherapy research at DYNAMIC in Frankfurt since 2025, several other guest lectures, and an overall inspiring program.
The 2026 retreat thus once again offered a platform for stimulating scientific exchange, networking, and the further development of shared research goals. The high level of participation and the diversity of contributions and guests shape further collaborations in the LOEWE Center DYNAMIC as well as the project's focus in the complex field of research on mental illnesses.
