LOEWE 2014 Funding with excellent prospects: LOEWE centre IDeA firmly anchored at the DIPF
Some 125 researchers at the LOEWE centre IDeA are working on individual development processes among children up to the age of 12 years and on ways of enhancing learning. Since 2008 its founding partners, the German Institute for International Educational Research (DIPF), Frankfurt’s Goethe University and the Sigmund Freud Institute, have established an extensive infrastructure for the centre and its laboratories and formed a network of German and international development and educational researchers from a number of different disciplines.
IDeA is the first LOEWE centre to be placed on a permanent basis: when LOEWE funding expires in mid-2014, the central coordination and laboratory infrastructure will be transferred in accordance with a resolution of the Joint Science Conference (GWK) to the DIPF, a member institute of the Leibniz Association.
»In the field of empirical educational research, the expansion of the IDeA centre has made Frankfurt a far more appealing location, with the result that we have been able to attract well-known colleagues to the DIPF and to Goethe University. The stabilisation means that in the future, together with all three partner institutions, we will be in a position to acquire external funds for complex research projects on individual development and adaptive learning approaches.«
